1. About ECUST

Located in Shanghai, East China University of Science and Technology （ECUST） was founded in 1952. ECUST is one of the national key universities directly under the administration of China's Ministry of Education. The main campus is situated in downtown Xuhui District and easily accessible by Metro Line 15. ECUST started enrollment and cultivation for international students in 1956. Being one of the authorized HSK test centers in China, it offers year-round Chinese language courses to international students.

2. About Courses

2.1 Program Features

• Different Levels: 7 levels  for elementary, intermediate and advanced language acquisition.

• Small Classes: Each class with a maximum of 20 international students.

• Comprehensive Training: Diverse curriculum elements including listening, speaking, reading and writing which are combined together to improve language ability.

• Professional Faculties: Experienced Chinese language teachers offering instructions and guidance.

• Target-oriented Teaching: Enhancement of integrated application of Chinese language.

• Degree Upgrade: Priority for admission to ECUST undergraduate or postgraduate programs.

• Officially Granted: Certificate and transcript （with credits attached） for completion.

2.3 Program Contents

• Program duration:  Feb. 24^th, 2025-July. 2nd, 2025 （Spring Semester） 

• Registration:  Feb. 24^th-25^th, 2025（Spring Semester） 

• Curricula Setting 

* The class will be open with at least 10 students of each level.

• Class Schedule  

*   A total of 18 weeks in one semester, please refer to the timetable for detailed schedule.

 * Several cultural experience activities will be arranged during the semester to perceive China.

2.4 Program Cost 

* Application fee is non-refundable, which should be paid when submitting the application.

* Tuition should be paid at one time.

3. How to Apply

3.1 Eligibility

• Regular passport holders.

• Aged between 16-60.

• STEP1: Click Register, use your email to register and sign in

• STEP2: Apply now-None-degree Programs- select "Chinese Language Program（Semester）"

• STEP3: Fill in personal information, upload passport, study experience, resume and study plan

• STEP4: Submit

• STEP5: Pay application fee, upload payment proof（Only remittance or bank transfer needed）

3.3 Application Deadline

   Jan. 15^th, 2025 

4. How to Pay

Payment of tuition shall be completed within 5 days after getting the E-admission letter.

5. Admission Procedures

5.1 Please follow the illustration of application procedures（Article 3）, and pay the application fee. Results will be coming out in 2 weeks.

5.2 After getting the E-admission letter, please pay the tuition fee within 5 days, and Email the payment proof （Only remittance or bank transfer needed）to cie@ecust.edu.cn

5.3 Once your payment is received, E-documents for student visa will be issued.

5.4 Online placement test of Chinese proficiency will be arranged.

5.5 Course instruction will be released in the first week of school, and all new students are requested to complete registration.

5.6 Students can apply for class change within one week after the course starts. Any group with less than 10 students will be merged.

6. Others

• About visa

E-documents for student visa shall be provided after admission, but no visa documents will be issued for those who are already in China during winter or summer vocation. 

• About accommodation

There're only single suites offered on campus with limited number, including independent bathrooms and balconies, at the cost of 80 RMB/day or 110 RMB/day （the cost varies depending on the new or old furniture with it, 24-hour hot and cold water included, but electricity excluded）;

The online booking system is usually open one month before the semester starts for applicants who are admitted and have paid the tuition. Those who have successfully booked on-campus dorms must pay the accommodation fee for one semester in full at registration in the beginning of the semester. Please keep an eye on all Email notices.

• About refund

There will be no refund of tuition fee to the applicants who give up enrollment due to personal reasons. For special circumstances, applicants can apply for retaining the qualification to register in the following semester, the paid tuition fee will be retained and postponed to the following semester. Due to visa refusal, failure to run the class, or force majeure, the tuition fee can be fully refunded.
