ⅠQualifications

1. Applicants hold valid foreign passports and in good health, with a high school degree or above. 

2. Be aged over 16, those who are under 18 before August 31 of the application year, please visit Downloadto download and submit GUARANTEE STATEMENT.

3. Comply with the regulations （JW〔2020〕No. 12） issued by Ministry of Education of People’s Republic of China.

4. Applicants should meet the following language requirements

Chinese-taught Programs: minimum requirements of HSK 4（190 or above for science and engineering majors, 210 or above for humanities and business majors, 60 or above in writing）. Those who've been granted previous degrees from Chinese-taught programs are exempted from HSK requirements.

English-taught Programs: minimum requirements of TOEFL 80 or IELTS 6.0 or Duolingo 105. Those who can provide English-taught proof for previous degrees or native English speakers do not need to submit the English Proficiency Certificate.

IV Application Procedures

1. Submit application online.

Visit ECUST online application system, register, and submit application documents according to the system prompts. Each applicant applies only once, do not make duplicate applications. 

 2. Pay the application fee of 600 CNY. 

If you are unable to pay online, please transfer the application fee to ECUST official bank account and send the remittance receipt to cie@ecust.edu.cn.

* The application is invalid if the application fee has not been paid. Once paid, the application fee will not be refunded. 

 

V Scholarship

1. Chinese Government Scholarship-CGS Type A （Chinese-taught only）

Bilateral /Unilateral/ EU/ Pacific Island Forum, etc.

（1） Apply to the dispatching authorities for overseas study in your home country for CGS opportunities;

（2） Contact College of International Education to obtain a Pre-Admission Notice;

（3） Visit CGS Information Management System for International Students to submit the online application, select East China University of Science and Technology for Application Institution I, submit all of your application documents to the dispatching authorities before the deadline, download the application form.

2. Shanghai Government Scholarship-SGS Class B （Chinese-taught only）

Visit Shanghai Government Scholarship Online Application Systemto submit the online application, download the form. 

3. Shanghai Government Scholarship-SGS 1+4 Program （Chinese-taught only）

No need to apply separately, check when applying in the system.

4. ECUST President Scholarship

No need to apply separately, check when applying in the system.

* Please refer to the CGS official website and the notice from your home country’s local international student dispatch department which is in charge of CGS opportunity, to learn more about application details and requirements of CGS-Type A.

* The information of SGS-Type B, 1+4 and ECUST President Scholarship programs will be notified separately.

 

Ⅵ Application Checklist 

1. Copy of passport photo page （Valid until Sept. 1^st, 2026 and beyond）

2. Copy of high school diploma or equivalent certificate

** Prospective diploma recipients must submit an official document issued by the current school to prove the current study status and expected graduation date. If applicants are admitted, a scan copy of the graduation certificate shall be sent before registration

3. Transcripts of all courses in high school or results of international standardization test （A-LEVEL/IB/IGCSE/AP/SAT/ACT/BC/UEC/STPM etc.）

4. Proof of Chinese or English language proficiency （The language certificate is valid for two years and must be valid when apply） 

5. Study Plan （minimum of 600 words with introduction of yourself and your family, reasons for choosing ECUST and the major）

6. Non-criminal Record Certificate. If applicant is unable to get one at home country, please sign Non-criminal Record Affirmation. International students studying in China can submit a certificate of no bad performance issued by school.

7. Statement of Financial Support

8. Copy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form.Please plan your physical examination schedule carefully as the result is valid for only 6 months. Applicants currently residing in China may submit Residence Permit or Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card in substitute for this form. 

9. Additional documents（for design programs submit at least 1 art work）

** Visit "Download-Application"to download 6/7/8 forms. 

** Only Chinese or English documents are accepted, if not, notarized copy of Chinese or English translation shall be provided. Application documents will not be returned, whether the application is successful or not.

 

Ⅶ Evaluation and Admission   

1. ECUST adheres to the principles of fairness, impartiality, and openness, and selects international graduates by adopting the "application- evaluation” method.

2. The admission list of various scholarship students will be announced on the college website before July 31st 2025.

3. After admission and payment of the tuition fees, ECUST will provides relevant documents for applying for a study visa to China.

 

Ⅷ Precaution

1. Applicants should ensure the authenticity and accuracy of the application information and application documents provided. Once the Admissions Office or the Certification Department verifies that any documents are not true, the student will not be admitted or the study qualification will be cancelled. 

2. Students may not register at two universities at the same time, which will result in cancellation of their study status.

3. Students must register in the duration specified by the university. If fail to report to the university after the deadline, students will be regarded as having automatically given up their student status and will be disqualified from receiving the scholarship. 

4. Bring the original relevant certificates and supporting materials for inspection when register.
